In collaboration with Cartier, Blunt Action had the honor of designing, animating, and editing a cinematic visual story of Cartier’s iconic historic brooch—originally created in 1926, during the era when the Parisian jewellery house began to draw heavily on Asian motifs for its Art Deco stylisations. Meticulously recreated from only two provided photos, this particular rock crystal brooch, lined with diamonds and platinum, features an adaptation of the Chinese longevity motif, “shou,” a popular ideogram often seen on Qianlong-period (1736–1795) porcelain pieces. Showcased in a digital in-store activation at the Cartier Mansion in New York City, the story of this brooch unfolds across four 4K screens, highlighting its evolution through handcrafted illustrations, collage motifs, and hyper-realistic 3D renders. Reaching across time and cultural influences, this piece stands as a testament to Cartier’s enduring artistry and its seamless blend of East and West.
